Getting rid of ants in garden | Borax & Sugar Experiment 6 of 6 Borax & Sugar in container: Poke holes on the side of recycled container. Mix Borax, warm water & sugar in a recycled container. Put in shallow hole in the ground. The idea is that ants will be attracted to the sugar & the borax will destroy them. I use containers with a lid because I don’t want other animals to get into this. Be careful how you use Borax & this method. (Don’t get it near your eyes and read the warning on the Borax box.) This is of course a temporary fix and it works best when we are consistent.
