Black Panther Rescue
This is Pardus, a black leopard in South Africa. Pardus was the only cub in the litter and only a couple of hours old when her mother rejected her. Rare within leopard and jaguar populations, 'black panthers' are melanistic colour variants of their family members. Black leopards are extremely uncommon. The last one observed in the wild in Africa in 2019 was the first one documented in over 110 years! Pardus is cared for by our South African big cat sanctuary, where you can volunteer!
