I would tell a non-Catholic that this sacrament is not just telling someone what you have done wrong but telling God what you have done wrong then he forgives you for all you have done wrong because he is the most forgiving. God doesn't remember your sins that's why when he forgives you for them you should stop then not think of them either. It's not just a sacrament to clear you conscience but it is to be forgiven by God
