A Book and A Teacup
A foundling's tale of lost childhood that explores deeply the functions and limits of memory, and the importance of childhood. The hallmarks of the traditional Nutcracker ballet are hidden within the story, as well as nods to Greek myths, German fairy tales, and a brief mention of the Christian roots of Christmas. Short, but very challenging in language and progression. Almost gave up and was prepared to pass the book along, but something told me to finish the last chapter - well worth it.
