An engine (CIE 171) going onto a turn table at Dundalk, Co. Louth. Flying Snail told us: "In the background is the GNR's 'general stores' building, which is a little run down these days. A lot of CIE's steam locos were scrapped in the Dundalk works and this may explain the number of engine wheels dumped in the background." Date: Saturday, 22 April 1961 NLI Ref.: ODEA 25/55
Proleek Dolmen (Portal Tomb), Ballymascanlon, Dundalk, Ireland. The capstown of this dolmen is said to weight c.40 tonnes. According to legend, if you can throw a coin and make it land on the top of the dolmen, you'll be granted a wish.
