Airbus rolled out first A340 on this day 25 years ago.  This long-range, four-engine, wide-body commercial passenger jet has a range of between 6,700 to 9000 nautical miles, depending on the type. Its distinguishing features are four high-bypass turbofan engines and three-bogie main landing gears. So far more than 370 aircraft been built and entered service.

Founded in 1967– Air Rhodesia was the national airline of Rhodesia, now Zimbabwe. Its mainstay aircraft were the Vickers Viscount 700D and the Boeing 720. Three of their Boeing a 720’s came from Eastern Air Lines.  Some destinations besides it’s domestic routes included, South Africa, Malawi and Mozambique. When Rhodesia came under majority rule as Zimbabwe-Rhodesia, Air Rhodesia became “Air Zimbabwe Rhodesia”, then “Air Zimbabwe” in 1980
