Following in the footsteps of Vikings: Exploring Viking sites in Iceland
Iceland is famous for its natural wonders but when you're visiting this beautiful country, don't forget to take the opportunity to learn about its people too. We visited three Viking sites in Iceland and discovered the stories behind some of Iceland's most famous historical travellers.

The viking ships of Roskilde. Towards the close of the Viking Age the fairways of Roskilde Fjord were blocked by a series of barriers to protect the important trading town of Roskilde from attack by enemy fleets. The five viking ships in the Roskilde Viking Ship museum come from one of these blockages in the Peberrende channel at Skuldelev, 20 km north of Roskilde.
