The Day I Bought a Star (星をかった日 , Hoshi wo Katta Hi) is a 16-minute animated short film written and directed by Hayao Miyazaki, produced by Studio Ghibli and released on January 3, 2006. It is one of the twelve short films that can only be seen in the Saturn Theatre at Ghibli Museum in Mitaka, Tokyo and Cinema Orion in Ghibli Park.
