Henry Moore at Tate Britain

Henry Moore in his Hampstead studio. The story goes, his wife was keen to have him work all the time - his artworks fetched a lot of money even then - but Henry Moore found a way around this. He would sit in a chair in this upstairs studio, with a newspaper and whisky in one hand and a walking stick in the other. Every few minutes he would bang the stick hard on the floor so that the missus would think he was actually sculpting.

Pater decided to dedicate himself professionally to sculpting. An important impetus came from the Utopa Foundation, which gave him the opportunity to sculpt at the Studio Sem in the Italian town Pietrasanta for a year. At Studio Sem were at that time the sculptors Henry Moore, César Baldaccini. and Joan Miró working.

Henri Moore

Henri Moore - One of my favorite sculptor. The internal and external shapes in this sculpture fit together with a sense of poetry.
