A Polish folk singer wears a head cover with embroidery typical of the town of Hrubieszów in Eastern Poland. She also wears traditional red beads found in many folk costumes through out Poland. Red was the colour associated with beauty and elegance.
Wieliczka, Poland sits atop one of the world’s oldest salt mines, in continuous operation for over 800 years until just this year. Over 1000 feet deep, it housed a Polish-resistance airplane factory during WWII. Open to tourists.
