The designer Paul Poiret created work that was hugely popular with the stars of the 20s. He revolutionised the female wardrobe and developed a new idea of luxury. Artists of the calibre of Picasso, Le Corbusier and Bakst all made contributions to the work of Monsieur Poiret, whose “court” was in a state of continual ferment in the first decade of the twentieth century.
