The front and back panel ideas didn't originate with Thor Ewing in "Viking Clothing," but may have with a guy called Flemming Bau in the 1980s. He proposed that the suspended dress was open in the front, but a longer backcloth/train could be attached to the back from the brooches, along with a front panel to cover the front.
Very nice embroidery, and unusual shaped brooches. The colour combination of the green apron dress, with it's orange border, is perfectly matching the wine red under dress. Instead of jewellery, she wears the key to the household chest. Excellent renactment garb!
