This is a diagram of a Trench in WWI. Every trench had a no mans' land, forward listening post, communication trench, spot for protection from explosions, front line trench, firebay, support trench, company hq dugout and last but not least a spot to reserve the trench. This seems like a great set up but in reality the trench life was not appealing. There were so many things soldiers had to face while in the trench like trench foot, body lice, trench rats, and even poisonous gases.

Trench warfare is a form of land-based military tactic in which soldiers would advance towards each other while utilizing the protection of trenches. Trench warfare would often result in a stalemate.
