Lettering was made with a stencil machine. Skull & crossbones had to be made by hand, then stencils were applied using an ink roller. VF-84 held the name "Jolly Rogers" until it was dis-established on 1 October, 1995. VF-103, (former "Sluggers"), adopted the name / colors of "Jolly Rogers" and carries them until this day on their F/A-18F Super Hornets, (now VFA-103).
