Beautiful Antique Samplers. I love embroidery and the stitchers who came before me. I admire The history of education behind these beautiful works of art.
Sally Fairfield made a sampler in about 1782, possibly at the academy of Eleanor Druitt in Boston, using satin, cross, split and outline stitches and French knots. While it is unfinished, it bears a resemblance to four documented samplers by Grace Welsh, Sukey Makepeace and Abigail Means and a near-identical 1781 sampler by Betsey Bentley
