"P is for proportion. Proportion and symmetry make #Copperplate letterforms beautiful and elegant. The benefits of oval drills will be evident in majuscule P. The rear loop and front loop should look like running or rolling ovals.

"L is for Lupfer. His Lessons in Engrosser's Script is currently my favorite reference for my calligraphy self-study. This is my favorite letter. if you're having difficulty with your loops, you can pause at a downward stroke. It's easier to continue a stroke when it's going downward rather than upward.

"J is a longer version of I, with the compound curve extending to the 2nd descender space and closing off with a loop. Same reminded for I apply - thick 1st stroke, thinner second stroke. Lupfer says the common error in J is making the bottom too small. Draw slant line to check if too and bottom are same width and slant (mine is definitely not!

Day 3 of #handletteredABCs. I have two goals for this challenge: 1⃣ Work on perfecting my Engrosser's majuscules; 2⃣ Write big, because I have the tendency to write small letters. The letter C should follow the oval shape. The lead in stroke must form an oval as well. My lead in stroke is a bit low here, so I must watch out for that next practice. You may add the upper and lower shade after you write the letter. Remember to check for angle and thickness of the shade! #LeelyeABCs

Y is for yahoo! It's such a great feeling when you see that your practice paid off. Y is also for yowza, I can't believe #HandletteredABCs is almost over! I don't know what I'll do after this. Thanks again @anintran and @piecescalligraphy for initiating this challenge! (25/26 #LeelyeABCs) #NotesOnCopperplate

"M is for majuscule, my favorite form of torture. I find the letter M (and A and N) challenging because it begins with a hairline. I still struggle in maintaining the consistency of the the stroke angle when I write. for M: The SHADES follow the slant, NOT the hairlines. • • •
