Taiwan and China had territorial issues over the past few decades. Taiwan, officially known as the Republic of China (ROC), is an island separated from China by the Taiwan strait. Taiwan has its own democratically elected government, while Beijing, on the other hand, asserts that there is only “one China” and Taiwan is part of it. In recent times tension between China and Taiwan is accelerated due to US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan.
