Czech architectural firm Atelier 8000 has created a cubical structure set on its side called the Kežmarské Hut. Its goal is to provide sustainable, year-round, off-the-grid shelter for adventurers, and apparently to do so at an angled orientation. German Team wins Solar Decathlon with solar covered house. The surface of this house is covered with solar cells: an 11.1-kW photovoltaic (PV) system made of 40 single-crystal silicon panels on the roof and about 250 thin-film copper indium gallium diselenide (CIGS) panels on the sides that are expected to produce an incredible 200% of the energy needed by the house. The house generated 19 kilowatts one day during test runs. solardecathlon.gov
