Oaxaca was one of the first cities built in the Classic Period, by the Zapotec. This is an example of the primitive writing from the group of indigenous people in Oaxaca, the Zapotec. They were one of the first civilizations to make a 365 day calendar and form writing. They were highly successful, and then by 900 A.D they abandoned the city for reasons unknown. The Mixtec people arrived after them. After them, the Aztecs settled in 1400 A.D., and 100 years later, the Spaniards.
