Exposed: 10 Female Guitarists You Should Know, Part 6
To say I’m thrilled to see Orianthi on the cover of the April 2013 issue of Guitar World is an understatement. But what even I didn't realize (until I dug a bit) was that this is only the third time in Guitar World’s history that a female guitarist has graced this place of honor. The first was Chrissie Hynde in March 1981, followed by Courtney Love in January 1999. That’s more than a decade between covers. So now what?!
Guitar Girl'd: Show Report — Ladies Rise Up and Rock
This weekend, I had the distinct pleasure of attending the first of what will hopefully be a series of events called Ladies Rise Up and Rock. The brainchild of Carl Mancuso, this high-energy concert featured some very talented, female-fronted bands. Its goal is to raise money for Grammy in the Schools, which brings music education to schools all over the country.
Exposed: 10 Female Guitarists You Should Know, Part 5
This edition of Exposed is a little different than those I’ve done in the past. Why? Because it has a theme. You might know I'm producing an event at the end of August called the Women’s Music Summit. In the throes of creating this event, I’ve come across a slew of talented guitarists. Some I’ll have the pleasure of meeting at the Summit; others have just crossed my path while I’m knee deep in the event’s production.

Guitar Girl'd: Interview with Sharon Aguilar on CeeLo, 2NE1 and Miss President
Sharon Aguilar wasn’t even going to audition. But what the heck. She was in the right place at the right time, took a chance and landed a gig playing and touring worldwide with CeeLo Green. As a student at Musicians Institute, Aguilar knew going to the Hollywood-based school would give her opportunities. She just didn’t realize they'd come so soon and mean so much.

Photo Gallery: Experience Guitarist Malina Moye
In the April 2013 issue of Guitar World, you’ll find a feature on the fabulous Malina Moye. Moye, a lefty player who flips her guitar over and plays with the strings upside down, is a fearless performer who knows how to put on a show! Her new release, Rock & Roll Baby, is slated to drop in the spring.
Guitar Girl'd: Interview with von Grey — Sisters in Song
I came across von Grey as I was bopping around SXSW last month. I immediately had to stop and find out: A. who their manager was, B. who their publicist was, and C., how could I talk to one of these extremely talented young ladies. Because, yes, they blew me away. Consisting of four sisters (say that 10 times fast!) with the last name von Grey, the band is an Americana masterpiece.

Guitar Girl'd: Interview with Serena Ryder on Her New Album, 'Harmony'
You may not realize it, but if you watch any TV at all, you’ve heard Serena Ryder’s “Stompa.” I know I have! I’ve rocked to her infectious beat during airings of Hawaii Five-0, Grey’s Anatomy and a commercial or two as well. Yes, it’s that ubiquitous!
Guitar Girl'd: Interview with Steph Macpherson on the Release of 'Bells & Whistles'
There’s good luck. There’s hard work. And then there’s Steph Macpherson, a case study in both — and in being in the right place at the right time. This Canadian singer/songwriter has just released her debut album, Bells & Whistles, and has been touring the West Coast in support. Her story goes like this ...
