Summer running really reminds me how much of an effect weather has on your effort and the paces you can hit. Today it was a perfect morning for a run. For my hard effort today my pace was ten seconds faster per mile than when I did this workout a few weeks ago with higher humidity. Just your daily reminder to not be discouraged by the pace you are running if the effort is there during these summer months! - When I run these short repeats I feel like it  is mentally easier to do it on the treadmill because it is much easier to see how far/long I have left versus trying to look at my watch. But Im trying to let go of always looking at the distance and just run the hard effort until my watch beeps. Ive found that it really helps me to focus on an object in the distance and mentally say Im going to run hard until I hit that. Usually my segment is up before I reach it but sometimes I do pass the first object and have to pick a second.  Ive noticed that this little mental trick helps me keep up the hard effort more so than just zoning out and running! - 4 mile warm up 12X 1 minute hard with 2 minute recovery (5:49 min/ mile average for hard segments) 3.4 miles cool down - Do you use any mental tricks when you are running short repeats on the road?
