This group of sculptures, named “Ghosts Underground”, depicts lost souls anguishing beneath the effect of a thin veil. Scarpella’s interest in this subject was inspired by a trip to the Sansevero Chapel in Naples, home to Antonio Corradini’s “Veiled Christ”.
