After the Warsaw Uprising, Sept/Oct 1944: Starving civilians are trying to reach for a few pieces of bread held by a member of the Polish Red Cross. Deaths from starvation in the Polish capital actually increased after the end of the uprising due to the destruction of infrastructure and the lack of adequate supplies. As usual, the prime victims were the very old and the very young.
