Has Rare Lion of Africa's Cape Eluded Extinction?
For 30 years, John Spence searched for descendants of the magnificent black-maned Cape lion, which was thought to be extinct in the Cape region of Africa since the 1850s. His search ended a year ago when he received pictures of a lion at a zoo in Siberia that resembled the former "King of the Cape."

Found this 4mm long curculionid beetle (ID ?) in the miombo's of Katanga (DR Congo, Mikembo sanctuary, January 2014). It is attracted by camp lights. At first I thought it was dirty, but it has peculiar scales all over its body. Some of the scales have something of snowflakes with a touch of nacre.
