Can't tell you how many times IV been told I'm using 'they' wrong.... Go back to basic English and reeducate yourself. They CAN be singular. You just need to make sure at the start you mention who you are talking about, say THEIR name and then the person you're talkin to will know who you are referencing. Easy peasy.
