What better way to learn about heat transfer than to experience it firsthand?! Basic thermodynamic concepts provide a fantastic foundation for students learning chemistry and physics. One of my favorite station labs of the year are my heat stations and the learning from these stations lasts the whole year long! Through hands-on phenomena, students explore conduction, convection, radiation, and other concepts that govern the behavior of heat. Over the years, I have adapted these stations to…

This is a thermal energy experiment to determine if the temperature of water affects the luminance of a glow stick. This lesson takes around 45 minutes. Through this lesson, the students will learn that hot water makes a glow stick glow brighter than cold water. The students need to have some background knowledge of the movement of particles of a liquid. This product is editable so that you can use it with items you have in your classroom. For example, if you would rather use graduated cylinder Thermal Energy Experiments, Notebook Dividers, Steam Classroom, Energy Science, Sixth Grade Science, What Is Energy, Graduated Cylinder, Light Unit, 7th Grade Science
