This exhibition of 31 paintings is the artist’s first major retrospective; it includes many new, never before seen works. His subjects hover between traditional figurative painting and portraiture, with subjects often seemingly caught in an interrupted moment, as if the sitter has just realized the artist’s presence.

Jeremy Lipking, who was born in1975, in Santa Monica, California, is the son of a professional illustrator. While he emphasizes that he did not begin his formal studies until his late teens, the young artist’s early exposure to art gave him a sense of taste, perhaps the most important component of an artistic education.
