They bring a sense of community that says “neighbourhood” rather than institution. Other benefits, besides adding colourful cheer are: help with way-finding (locating one’s own room or that of a family member) and a sense of pride in having one’s own defined space.

This versatile hallway mural engages residents in memory care with an activity which is both purposeful and creative. Flowers are “picked” (assisted with the instructional sign) from the grassy areas and then placed in the (named) “Flower box” or wall containers. Artificial flowers may also be changed with the seasons for more variety.
