Mauryan empire

The spy system was an integral part of the Administration of Mauryan Empire. The goals of the secret service was to test the integrity of government officials, spy on cartels and population for conspiracy, to monitor hostile kingdoms, to destabilize enemy states, to get rid of troublesome powerful people who could not be challenged openly.

The emperor Ashoka is considered to be one of India’s greatest monarchs, and was the third ruler of the Mauryan Empire. Whilst Ashoka’s conquests pale in comparison to his illustrious grandfather’s, he is widely remembered as a Buddhist ruler, and it was his contributions to Buddhism and morality that made him such a renowned figure in Indian history.

Mauryan period (340 BC to 232 BC) The first big empire after the Vedic age, was the first one to rule over most of the Indian subcontinent. The art and architecture during this period except for the Pataliputra palace, is mainly Ashokan. It can be classified mainly into Stupas, Pillars, Caves, Palaces and Pottery.
