The familiar phrase “you’d look good even in a potato sack” originated from a stunt pulled off by 20th Century Fox in 1952. Marilyn was under contract with the movie studio then and Fox wanted to showcase Marilyn’s beauty to prove that she didn’t need to be dressed in gowns, furs and jewels to look good.
