Photographer James Henderson has made a series of close up images of bird feathers using a variety of macro and close up techniques. The feathers came from backyard, pet store, and museum specimens, and represent many different species and countries. By looking this closely at the feathers, the viewer gains an appreciation for what they are and where they come from.

This is a soft ground etching, the feathers are impressions in the ground from actual feathers, tricky to get a good impression, but when you do, it is worth it.... the feather on the paper is actually a feather rolled up with ink and printed as part of the print. The only problem I have with this soft ground printmaking method is that if you (I) don't add anything, then what is it..... copying basically, sure, there is technique, but that's about it isn't it?
