Gas Giant Planets: point_of_no_23

A giant planet is any massive planet . They are usually primarily composed of low-boiling-point materials (gas or ices), rather than rock or other solid matter, but massive solid planets can also exist. The term gas giant was coined in 1952 by the science fiction writer James Blish and was…

ArtStation - Gas Giant Substance, Matthias Schmidt

Another planet made in Substance Designer. I went for a Jupiter like gas giant. This one turned out to be more difficult then i thought. Approaching an object of that size (without a solid surface) like any regular material doesn't work that well. The usual roughness, normal and ao maps have the effect of making it look like a miniature or made of something different then gas so i had to work with the base color map mostly.

Hypothetical scene of a huge gas giant planet looming beyond some of its moons, one of them being Earth-like. If there is life on this Earth-like satellite it is doomed - as the satellite orbits the gas giant it is gradually getting closer to the planet and will soon break up due to tidal forces.

Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest in the Solar System. It is a gas giant with a mass more than two and a half times that of all the other planets in the Solar System 9/10/2022
Imagine taking a regular grid in 3D space and placing a mass in the middle of it. According to Albert Einstein’s theory of General Relativity, space near the mass gets contracted and time near the mass flows more slowly. This is why a person living on the top of a skyscraper ages slightly faster than someone living in a basement 😂 #sciencefacts #generalrelativity #alberteistein #universe #physicsteacher Theoretical physics | Spacetime | Universe facts | Gravity
