By 1914 the Foxtrot arrived from America and took pride of place in the Ballroom. Believed to be named after Harry Fox, a Vaudeville stage performer, but more plausible that it was named after the gait or pace of the horse.

By 1915 Miss Belle Harding announced the very first Foxtrot Ball & Competition. A Chasse was used for progression and turning and the speed was about 32 B.P.M.  Lively tunes began to encourage even more wild steps, So, to distinguish a smooth Foxtrot from a wilder one, the Dancing Times invented the name ‘Saunter’ ; to walk in a leisurely way.

By the end of 1918 added dips and twinkles went out of fashion and the Foxtrot developed into Ballroom Dancing, Turning, Vaudeville Stage, Foxtrot Dance, Foxtrot, Ballroom Dance, The Horse, Ballroom, Walk In
