Now 35, I spent more than a decade in the US military where I first became the equivalent of a nurse’s assistant as a result of training at the US Naval Hospital in Waukegan, IL. I went on to earn an Associates Degree in Health Sciences with a focus on Physical Therapy and then spent the remaining 8 years of my Navy career serving as a PT Assistant, including 3 years in Naples Italy, deploying to Kuwait, and an extended visit to Haiti aboard the USS Comfort after the earthquake of 2009.
