The Chinese calligraphy is very unique in that the characters have developed based on the shape of the animals. I played with the twelve animals’ characteristics and shapes to try to integrate them into the illustration.
Chinese Alphabet: There is no Chinese alphabet in the sense we understand it in the West. Chinese characters are not letters (with some exceptions), Chinese characters represent an idea, a concept or an object.
