This is one of many ways to finish a knotted necklace! This technique is called BACK KNOTTING. In my opinion, it is the most secure and tidy way to finish a knotted piece. You don’t need to use metal findings aside from your clasp or jump ring (also called “findings”)- you just a need a short piece of FRENCH WIRE which is a tightly coiled tube of ultra fine wire. 

You could omit the French wire if you wanted to, if you were making a quick, trendy necklace for yourself and didn’t want to buy a whole pack of FW. But if you are working with precious stones and metal, or making something to gift or sell, I’d absolutely go the FW route. 

My French wire is from RioGrande. The material is a yellow finished brass.
