I love using fun sayings and jingles with my students to get their attention. It keeps me from sounding "naggy" and the kids love it! Best of all, it works like a charm! How you introduce a new attention grabber is also important to the successful use of that attention grabber. I always practise a new attention grabber by asking the students to pretend to have a conversation with a classmate they are sitting beside. I start by saying, “Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.” They love this and quickly and loudly start copying. Then, I yell out the attention grabber and they respond!
