Acer palmatum 'Sango-kaku' (its Japanese name means "Coral Tower", formerly Acer 'senkaki'), is one of the coral bark maples and is one of our favourite Japanese maples since it gives interest and beauty in all seasons of the year and is relatively slow growing. The Coral Bark maple has beautiful red winter twigs which are the attraction with this fine Japanese maple. The Coral bark maple is also known as Acer palmatum Sango Kaku. The Coral Bark has lovely green leaves that turn golden yellow to orange in Fall. Sango kaku will grow between 15 and 25 feet in ten years depending on care and conditions. Does best with part shade in very hot climates.
