Knight's cross of the Imperial Order of Our Lady of Guadalupe The National Order of Our Lady of Guadalupe was established by Emperor Agustín I of Mexico in 1821, following the dissolution of the First Mexican Empire, the order remained dormant until Antonio López de Santa Anna convinced Pope Pius IX to recognize it in 1854. In 1865, Emperor Maximiliano I renamed the order Imperial Order of Imperial Order of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
