DIY: How to Make a Dollhouse Charcoal Grill! #dolls

Tutorial: Dollhouse Charcoal Grill » Dollar Store Crafts

Hello there! I’m Lindsey from toddlindsey.com. (I know, how original, right?) I’m an art teacher that spends ALL my free time crafting, cooking, baking, making miniatures and in general, just detoxing myself from kids and school. I love the creative process of making. Anything. I especially love when that process results in food. Or really beautiful things. […]

La boiserie – The wall panelling

La tappezzeria della camera matrimoniale ha dei colori caldi, ma nell’insieme risulta monotona e spoglia. Abbiamo quindi pensato di aggiungere un bordo di carta fiorato e la boiserie nella pa…

Greenleaf Spring Fling 2013- Loblolly Westcott House detail shots

First of all, thank you for so many kind comments on Loblolly Westcott House. I really appreciate it and every artist needs ego fluffing. It's how we keep going! There are so many great details of this build, and even more that I didn't get shots of. Big DSLR's take fantastic photos, but they aren't so great for getting into dollhouses. :) I'll try to borrow my son's camera and get some shots... The bathroom in this house is the smallest room I have ever worked with! The walls are made from…

Tutorial on making tiny couch. Lots of ideas on this site

Take a seat - Part 2

Okay, so now you have your sofa frame, this will take you through how I cover mine in fabric. Choose whatever fabric you like...try to make it a light weave otherwise you may have problems folding it. For the sake of those who don't want to sew or don't have access to a sewing machine, I'm using wonderweb which is the stuff used to make hems in clothing. All you need is a hot iron to set it. If you want to sew the fabric, fill your boots. These tutorials are just how I like to make stuff and…

Make a Miniature Dollhouse Wall Clock » Dollar Store Crafts

The secret to creating truly realistic dollhouse miniatures is all in the details. But that doesn’t mean you need to be an incredible artist to create them! Some clever repurposing and use of materials can yield surprising results, allowing you to make tiny things that look very convincingly like their full-size counterparts. This tiny wall […]

"DIY Tutorial Popsicle stick floors for Dollhouse." SO EXCITED! The wood floors I wanted were out of stock, and too expensive anyway - but I happened to have a ton of popsicle sticks from the thrift store. Just glue and stain! Can't wait!

Popsicle stick floors

While my house doesn't have a roof I thought I would do the flooring. I'm not sure if this is the right order to do things in, but it's work...

CHAIR UPHOLSTERING TUTORIAL - How to make and upholster a 1 inch scale chair.

Where do I begin? I began wishing for the beautiful furniture I saw displayed in Nutshell News so long ago. Always anxious for the next issue to be delivered, hoping that there would be an article in it with directions for making upholstered furniture. At last, July 1994, "Do it Yourself", page 94, Ray Whitledge publishes an article "A Sofa from Scratch". This is a very good starting place, it's where I started and I am thankful to Mr. Whitledge to this day. I am going to try to give you a…

Kitchen Dresser Tutorial - How to Make a Kitchen Dresser from Mat Board with an Aged Finish

Dollhouse Miniature Furniture - Tutorials | 1 inch minis

You might think this is a lot of trouble to go through when you are using mat board and not basswood to make this kitchen dresser. Mat board is easier to get, I think, it's cheaper than basswood and you don't have to have a table saw and scroll saw to cut it. You need only an Exacto knife/craft knife. So, building painted furniture is accessible to more people. You might not want mat board furniture in your finest dollhouse, but painted mat board furniture is certainly fine for small…

Dollhouse Miniature Furniture - Tutorials | 1 inch minis

I wanted to show you another top. This piece is from the same kitchen, it's in the dining area. I found this full-size baker's rack in my Ethan Allen furniture catalog. On this top I painted black first and splattered ivory, grey and a little dark red. If you haven't given all of the raw edges a coat of clear finish, (I've used Delta's PermEnamel Clear Satin Glaze) do so now. Let this dry and sand smooth. Pick a color to paint your cabinets. I mixed Delta's Ceramcoat Old Parchment with…

Dollhouse Miniature Furniture - Tutorials | 1 inch minis: How to make a "leather" ottoman

Part Four, "Leather" ottoman

Part Four Trim the bottom points off, there should be enough glue to hold the edges together. Fold the top point down and glue. Trim the top point off. What are we going to use to cover all of this up with, boxing. Measure a corner of the cushion, see the corner on the right hand side of the picture, this would be a good corner to measure. Measure top to bottom of the corner. Mine measured 5/16 inch. Cut the fabric that width and long enough to go around the cushion plus a little extra to…
