Amazing story about this crash. During the flight, ice crystals formed in the fuel system causing a fuel starvation problem for each engine on final. The pilot made a bold move by actually bringing the flaps up, reducing drag on the plane, which caused it to glide just over the freeway and land on the grass just before the runway. No fatalities.

British Airways Flight 38, a Boeing 777-236ER (G-YMMM) crashed short of the runway at London-Heathrow after a flight from Beijing on 17th January, 2008. There were no fatalities. One evening, on a dare and a bet, he went home back to New Jersey, stole a plane from Teterboro Airport, flew it over Washington Heights and landed it on St. Nicholas Avenue at about 3 a.m. in the morning. He parked it on 191st Street in front of the opening of the subway. The following day they came and dismantled it and drove it back to the airport."
