To keep dust from settling on furniture, baseboards, lampshades, picture frames, etc I mix about a tablespoon of fabric softener with 2 quarts of water and dissolve it completely. Then I use a terry cloth rag and wring it out really well so it's damp. Then I wipe down anything with a hard surface including leather and wooden furniture. There's no film and the fabric softener repels dust. It's great for blinds and less costly than dryer sheets.
