Passionflower “Lady Margaret” (Passiflora coccinea x incarnata) - according to the texts, this variety is not a larval host plant for gulf frittilary butterflies, but in my garden, they denude it every fall.
Passionflowers. Exotic flowers like these don't have to be limited to tropical gardens. A vigorous perennial vine that climbs via tendrils, the passionflower is a conversation piece. Photo by Evan Leeson thanks to and via @Age Hill
Passion Flower Many species have been found to contain beta-carboline harmala alkaloids, which are MAO inhibitors with anti-depressant properties. The flower and fruit have only traces of these chemicals, but the leaves and the roots are often more potent and have been used to potentiate the effects of mind-altering drugs. I love passion flowers :)
