Polish-American classical pianist Arthur Rubinstein received international acclaim for his performances of the music written by a variety of composers and many regard him as the greatest Chopin interpreter of his time. The New York Times called him one of the greatest pianists of the 20th century. He played in public for eight decades. While he was an agnostic, he was proud of his Jewish heritage. He was a friend of Israel, and played with the Israel Philharmonic Orchestra.
