The Iris Nebula, a bright reflection nebula

NASA has released a truly striking Hubble Space Telescope image depicting the ferocious birth of a star within the Circinus Molecular Cloud Complex which is located some 2,280 light-years away. The star has been named IRAS 14568-6304.

NGC 7023, AKA the Iris Nebula. The bluish glow at the center comes from a hot, massive star named HD 200775.

Stars Swarm Like Celestial Bees in Stunning New Photo A new image of Messier 55 from ESO's VISTA infrared survey telescope shows tens of thousands of stars crowded together like a swarm of bees. The stars are some of the oldest in the universe.

Portrait Of NGC 5189: New Light On An Old Planetary Nebula -Composite Image of NGC 5189 Courtesy of Robert Gendler Stretching across three light years of space and located about 3,000 light years away in the direction of the constellation of Musca, an incredible and rather understudied planetary nebula awaits a new hand to bring out new light. While most planetary nebula have a rather normal, bloated star look, NGC 5189 shows an extraordinary amount of loops and curls not normally seen in

Nebola NGC 6729. What grand vistas are opened to us through astronomy, mathematics, our ingenuity for (coloring) the trace gasses and minerals of our Universe. Kinda makes me think this is God's way of showing us how far we've come and a glimpse of where we might end up. I'm just an average Joe, but this scale reminds me I am "Little Joe."

The Lagoon Nebula #8 of Charles Messier’s “not a comet” list, the Lagoon Nebula is a cloud of ionized hydrogen estimated to be 4000-6000 light years from earth. It can be seen with the naked eye as a gray/green patch in the constellation of Sagittarius. PHOTOGRAPHER: Chuck Manges
