In 1961, Margaret Leonard was a 19 year old student at Sophie Newcomb College and the first white Southerner to participate in the Freedom Rides. Her mother, a progressive columnist for the Atlanta Journal, was fired after Margaret’s arrest.
The Warsaw Ghetto Uprising is an example of Jewish resistance towards the actions and beliefs of the Holocaust. It occurred during 1943 in the Warsaw ghettos in Poland. This is a photo of Jewish citizens being taken out of their dugouts. It is a very famous photo of events during World War II.
