This is an example of freedom because the person is free to make their life have whatever meaning they choose to have. The value of life is different for each person but it is all the same in the sense that everyone is free to determine it.
Suicide is referenced in the novel frequently by the main characters as a way to escape their boredom and end their waiting. However, they can never go through with it because they would rather do nothing than make a decision that would impact their lives.
