Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. Keep your cabbage core INTACT, slice your cabbage in half first then into thick slices – ending up with 6-7 slices. Place them on your baking tray and brush both sides of each slice with olive oil. Season with salt to taste and sprinkle with the seasonings listed to taste. Don't be shy – give it some color! Roast in your oven for 30-35 minutes or until golden. ground meat topping: In a large skillet, heat your oil and then saute your onion for 2 minutes. Add in the ground meat and using a wooden spoon break everything up until no longer pink and cooked through. Season with salt, and all the seasonings listed, generously. Again, give the meat some color. Use this to top the roasted cabbage slices and top with the cheese and pop back into the oven until melted – about 5 minutes. assembly: If you're using the beans, simply top the cooked cabbage steaks equally with some beans, covering the cabbage and then top with the shredded cheese. Pop back into the oven until the cheese has melted – 5 minutes. Gyūdon🇯🇵🥩 (Japanese Beef Rice Bowl) In a pan on medium-high heat (with oil) add: -1 large yellow onion (cut into half moons) -2 tablespoons of chopped ginger -1 tablespoon of minced garlic -1 cup of water -1 cup of Mirin -1/2 cup of soy sauce -1/4 cup of light brown sugar Cover and let this cook for about 4 to 5 minutes then add 2 pounds of shaved ribeye (or pretty much any thinly shaved beef that you would use to make a Philly Cheesesteak. But ribeye is definitely the best!) Let this cook (it shouldn’t take any more than 2 minutes) and then turn off the heat and let it stew for about 5 more minutes. Also, give it a taste and add more soy sauce if you want. Then add white rice to a bowl, top it off with the beef and some of the sauce, and an egg. In Japan, they serve this with an Onsen Egg (which is cooked low and slow.) I used a poached egg today but you could also use a soft boiled or a fried egg if you want.
