We are keeping it very simple this year as we focus on the JOY of Christmas rather than the overwhelming commercialism. FREE Science Experiment: States of Matter (hot chocolate, vinegar, baking soda)  This little experiment is a fun twist on the traditional vinegar + baking soda experiment. Mix a packet of hot chocolate with some baking soda, then add some vinegar to make a hot chocolate surprise!  PS. Don't drink the hot chocolate surprise. It can make you sick. Yuck!  #kellysclassroom

So I've been spending the last few weeks going through the curriculum for my district and starting to accumulate some resources. I LOVE the science topics I get to teach this year. One lesson focuses on classifying animals. We discuss vertebrates and invertebrates, and then we classify vertebrates into more specific categories: mammals, fish, birds, reptiles, and amphibians.
