The earliest and largest center for tin mining in Europe dates to 2500 BCE in Erzgebirge in the Balkans. It was in huge demand and exported as far as the Mediterranean. Other sources of tin in Europe were mined in Devon and Cornwall in England, Brittany in France, the Iberian Peninsula and a tiny amount in Italy used by the Etruscans.
